How long is a week rental?
If you pick it up Monday (at any time), you will have the bike until midnight of the following Monday. So you’ll get a minimum of seven 24-hour periods.
Do the bikes have storage capacity?
Yes, the bike comes with dual panniers which together hold 1 full grocery bag. They’re easy to take on and off.
Should I worry about bike theft?
It’s not a major problem here, but please do worry a little. Don’t leave the bike outside overnight. Take the battery with you if you’re leaving the bike for a long time. And always, always, always use the provided chain lock, even if you’re only going inside for a minute or two. If you use the provided chain lock every time you get off it, theft is extremely unlikely.
Do the bikes charge phones?
Yes, all rental bikes come with an excellent universal phone mount and an adjacent USB charger.
What happens if I lose the bike?
It depends on how. If you didn’t lock the bike up and someone came along and rode off, you will be charged for a new bike at retail.
What if I need to return the bike early?
Rental fees are non-refundable except in extraordinary cases.
How long can I keep the bike?
As long as you want, but please inquire about monthly and annual rentals if you’ve had the bike more than three weeks.
How fast do the electric bikes go?
The bikes are limited to 28 MPH per California law, but they will reach this speed very quickly. And acceleration is much more fun than top speed.
How far do the electric bikes go?
You should see 20-40 miles per charge. The reason for the variability is the 5 levels of assist power you can call upon. The 5 levels put out widely variable power, and thus they spend the battery’s power at very different rates. You can ride at 150 watts assist for twice as long as you can ride at 300W, which you can ride at for twice as long as you can 600W.
Are the bikes waterproof?
Waterproof is a pretty strong word, but it would take a pretty uncommon SoCal rain to harm these bikes. That said, if one occurs during your rental, please make sure the bike is not left out in heavy rain for long, or damage could occur. And it’s not a very nice thing to do to any bicycle.
